Meet our Owner

Ambition Baton Twirling was founded in 2008 by Jessica Baker.  Jessica has always had a love of baton twirling and sharing her passion with others.  Jessica started baton twirling when she was 5 years old and started teaching at age 16. Jessica was the Feature Twirler at Western Illinois University where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in business and dance.  She has always had a love for performance and that has taken her to the Miss Iowa stage where she won Preliminary talent and was the 2nd runner up in 2016.

Dance Instructor: Amby Corder

My name is Amby Corder and I am currently a junior at the University of Iowa pursuing a Communication Studies degree with a certificate in Event Planning in hopes of one day becoming an event planner. I’ve been dancing for the last 17 years and am trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, pom, and tumbling. Throughout my childhood, I was involved in a few different studios where I also participated in competition dance. In high school, I was on the Muscatine Dance Team where I had the opportunity to choreograph dances and perform them at most football and basketball games, as well as competing every year at the ISDTA State Competition. I was worried that after I graduated high school my performing/choreographing days would be over but that soon changed when I was introduced to the University of Iowa Dance Club! UIDC is a student organization from the University of Iowa that is focused on the education of dance through student teachers to any university student, regardless of experience! I’ve been a pom captain for dance club for the past two years as well as participating in other classes and have had so much fun meeting new people with the same passion for dance as me, as well as continuing to grow as a dancer. I feel so blessed to have been offered this teaching position at Ambition and I hope that my passion for dance sparks a flame in these girls that I now get to spend every Monday night with! I’m so excited and I cannot wait to get started!
